Chapt 2.10

Wait, what am I thinking about, I have already started the day long ago.

Saturday.

He groans, and his eye lids begun to feel heavy and the drowsiness got the better of him.

Gratitude.

That must be it. Dakara cannot think of a better answer. How can anybody fall for the son of your mother's murderer? Especially when her beloved mother was taken when she was young and fragile? When she needed her mother's nurture the most, it vanished out of her life, in an instant. She tossed and turned in her nightdress, obviously having a hard time to fall asleep.

She vividly remembered Leon's soft yet assuring lips, his gaze beckoning-- filled with bewilderment by her move. Who was it to be blamed? She was lost, desperate, in need of assurance, and he was there. In fact, she was the one who took the initiative, a very bold one indeed. Now, she regretted. Or did she? It was just a kiss, Dakara. She tried calming herself, feeling helpless and rather stupid at the same time. Besides, don't French people peck on cheeks when they meet? She knew  though, it wasn't just merely a kiss of acknowledgement, deep in her heart, she knew, it meant much more than that.

A week passed.

Ever since the day she was given a second chance to live, she had been avoiding him for the same reason---she simply cannot summon enough courage to tell the truth. The truth---Instantly, guilt and remorse filled every muscle in her muscle, aching its way out of her body. She had plotted to kill him for revenge, with or without her dark side sister. Moreover, she had to do it for something else--but that, will be kept as a secret, for now. All this while, she hesitated about her mission ... And finally, when she had the courage do so... All this while she had been a terrible, horrible lie. She wanted him dead more than ever.

What if he asks about the kiss? How is she going to explain herself?

Questions fogs up her mind --as thick as the white mist in the late evenings-- preventing her to think clearly, blinding her thoughts, choking her senses to death. Perhaps she didn't want to think straight, for as long as she still have a heart, she will willingly submit to her guilty conscience to confront him. It aches her heart, somehow, when they both don't talk often now. She stares out the window, the moon glistening pale in the night. Hardly a sound, aside the whirring of the ceiling fan and Cathy--- the occasional murmurings of  her roommate in her sleep.

She heaved a long, deep breath, and sigh. She missed his voice. She missed the casual conversation they often have during short class breaks. Finally, she missed the expression on his face whenever he starts concentrating hard on maths questions. Aside the polite, formal conversations, she had ignored him completely. She even turned him down on purpose when he tried to strike a conversation spontaneously. She tugs the covers towards her chest, frustrated, she sighs even longer.

Remorse eats slowly form within her, the torment was much worse than death--- which she had experienced.

This will not do, I must do something. By all means, he could still be the son of my mother's murderer, i will be deemed infilial to fall for him. Nevertheless, i will give him and his family a chance to prove themselves innocent.

She always screw her nose up whenever in deep thought.

That's it, one last chance!

She heaves the covers away, swings her legs to one side of the bed. Dakara looks around, gingerly, she sneaks to the door, slips into a cloak--conveniently hanging on ta nearby chair-- and crept outside. She must make that sure no one sees her as she slips though the corridors, or else she'd be in deep, deep trouble. She couldn't imagine the consequences if the school authorities finds her outside her dorm at this point of time. Yet, she just have to see him, his face.
