Chapter 2.5
Leon blinks his eyes. His body still slightly numbed due to the trauma. It took awhile before his senses started to return. What had happened? He recalled the amulet saving his life. The light, and then...
'Dakara!' Her shadow was no where to be seen. He got up immediately, more than surprise to find that he did not suffer from any bruises. He wandered around aimlessly, trying to figure out where Dakara was. He brought himself to where he last saw Dakara. The surroundings starts to brighten, as the dews of the dawn, hanging dangerously from the leaves and blades of grass, disappear gradually.
Leon gives up. She probably left. Unaware, Leon accidentally stumbles onto an object, a body, to be precise. He looks down. Dakara! He kneels gently to the ground, unable to accept reality. Is she dead? He runs his fingers to her stiff body. Cold. Yet, there is still a sense of warmth and mild breathings as she tries to inhale. There is still a slight sign of life. He embraces her closely to his chest. "Dakara! Wake up!" Tears start to well up his eyes. "You can't just leave me alone! I have nobody else in this world but you!" Tears stream down his cheeks uncontrollably. The news is far too shocking for him to grasp, he instantly fall into an emotional breakdown. He lost his mom. He lost his dad. He can never afford to lose his best friend , and of course, his first crush, in this world!
The sun rises at dawn, streams of sun rays burst through the night sky. Leon looks at the sky. Shades of orange and pink adorn the clouds, gently replacing the purplish hue of the night sky. Just as sudden, Dakara's image began to change again. As he held her tightly in his hands, he fully witness the physical and personality change of Dakara. Her hair, turns back to a straight blonde, and her aura of calmness reemerged. She is, in fact, the old Dakara again.
Leon stunned by the change, even more stunned to realise that she gave her last breath. Her body now icy cold, her lips turning slightly into pale blue. There was nothing he can do now. His ONLY friend, now he will be a murderer! 'I did not mean to hurt you. I was just trying to defend myself and preventing you from further harm...' He stares unbelievingly at his hands. These hands are now of a murderer's! He reaches into his pouch for the book. Proudly encrypted on it was "Book Of Light", a book his father used his life to defend on. He reach out to Dakara's hand, still tightly clutching her book to the end. She too, chose to defend her book, so as her family with their lives. Why would people go to great limits for these two books?? What value does it exactly have that drives people to do unexplainable things?
Leon thought hard. His mind in a state of grieve. He can stop this from going on among generations. He knew it would defy his late father's words, but it seems the right thing to do. Luckily, he did not hesitate to bring out a lighter from his dorm just before he rushes off to meet Dakara. Slowly, he pulled out the lighter from his bag. He will burn the two books. All vengeance shall vanish once and for all if the books were destroyed, he thought. He flips open the cover, a small flame alights as he presses the notch...
