6 BOOKS_the Showdown!
Chapter 2.1
He gave his shoulders a wide stretch, awake from his dreadful night of sleep. Half awoken, sunlight blinded Leon's eyes as he opens his eyes. #@$^%!! I'm late! He uncovered the bedsheets and look for the book from underneath of his bed. There it was, right where Leon placed it yesterday. He cram the book into his backpack. He took the leftover sandwich last night on the study table and simply gorge it down for breakfast.
"Late, I suppose, boy? " Mr. Harrington's voice boomed, his hands still scribbling consistently on the blackboard, hardly pausing a moment for his students. Unfortunately, he senses Leon as he tries to sneak into class from the back door. Mr. Harrington is known for his ability to detect the slightest move of every student even though facing the board. Sounds impossible? Not for Mr. Harrington.
"Just 10 minutes, sir. It won't happen again." Leon bleats pathetically, tilting his head in shame.
"No excuses, boy." He scowled. "When are you start going to becoming a young man?"
"Maybe he ought to wear skirts!"
"I'm sure he looks pretty in that!"
The class roared in laughter. Leon ignores the rude remarks by the boys. He doesn't like defending for himself, it's rather hopeless. He was deemed a loser since the first day he arrived. He scrambled into his seat, hoping that the whole commotion will die down soon. Something was amiss though. He realised Dakara is not at her seat as usual. He wanted to ask her so many questions badly, looks like it'll just have to wait.
Why would she be absent? She is often the teacher's pet, and rarely misses any classes, even though Mr. Harrington's classes were best to be missed.
He lays his books onto his desk. Surprisingly, he found a note left on his desk. It was most probably meant for him as soon as he reaches class. He reads the note silently.

Leon
Meet me at the usual place, alone. Half past seven. Urgent. Please come.
Dakara

Dakara wants to meet me urgently? That's odd. She would usually just pop the request to me personally, but why a note today? I wonder if something terrible happened, or maybe she's in some sort of trouble?
His heart plunged deeply. He will not let anything harm her. He tries to focus, but to no avail.
Listen, Leon, she's probably just busy with some errands, you're over-reacting, paranoid, they call it.
Recess. Leon was eager to find out answers. First, Dakara. Anxious, he paced faster. His mind full of horrible thoughts, his heart pounding, faster and faster. His footsteps come to a sudden halt. He nearly tripped over. Leon looks at his shoe laces. Darn, how did I manage to tie them both together? Lack of concentration, I guess, therefore it went unnoticed when I shot straight out of class. It's rather impossible to walk when you have those tied together. He quickly moved aside to re-tie his shoelace. He is not taking any chances to obstruct the hallway, he might get trod over if he were to knelt in the middle of the way. He was bumped into once, causing him to land face-first on the floor. Leon vowed to never repeat that humiliating incident, EVER.
All the sudden, a long, creaking sound pierced through. At first it wasn't quite audible, but then the noise grew louder, and louder, ear-splitting. Before everyone knew what was happening, a mighty crash spread throughout the hallway, leaving everyone crouching and scrambling to nearest safety. Complete chaos. Leon squint his eyes hard, covering both his ears. As he secretly peeks, he saw a humongous shadow towering above him. He crouches immediately, not expecting what would happen next. Soon, the sounds died down. Everyone came around to see what exactly had happened.
Leon slowly opens his eyes. Pieces of fragile glass scattered everywhere. Yet, unharmed, he stood up, carefully avoiding the broken glass around him. All eyes were drawn onto him, as he was the only one close to the scene. He felt as if he had just survived from an impossible miracle. One of the school's largest and most reputable trophy cupboard toppled over, seems like it gave way because it could not stand its weight anymore. Some of the prized trophies were dented badly, so called the school's pride and honour. Somehow, Leon felt tension, a strong chill down his spine. He could have been injured, or worse, KILLED, if he had ignored his senses to tie his shoelace in the middle of the hallway! That "freak accident" happen right before his eyes, barely a few inches before he could be crushed. Coincidence? Or maybe he is being a paranoid after being exposed too much of information. He changes his mind, maybe he should just meet Dakara later. Besides, if she would be so easy to find, then she wouldn't have make a point to leave a note. Still half in shock and awestruck, he heads back to his next class early.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunset, by the horizon, at quarter past seven sharp. Leon brings his belongings, and heads off. His book carefully tuck inside his backpack, although doubting, he thinks he still has the obligation to fulfill his late father's wishes.
Leon braved all he had to sneak into the woods. He wasn't allowed to, it is against the school rules. All students are forbidden to mingle anywhere within or outside the dormitory. Even the extent where girls and the boys are not allowed to meet up for any reason at this point of time. They were usually sent to bed right after dinner, although permission for being at the public lounge was granted. Boredom sets in after dinner and many students prefer to mingle out at the lounge to socialise and to have a game or two.
Here in the woods, all is starting to get dark. There used to be several sights about hauntings in the woods, yet nobody had really proven any. Leon might not want to admit, but the place creeps him out at nights, especially the path where he has to go through thick brambles and forests before reaching the field. Hoot~~TOOT!! An owl hoots and brings in the night atmosphere, there are plenty of nocturnal animals here. Spiders, snakes, scorpions, you name it. He stops, scanning his surroundings nervously, hoping everyone in the campus will not notice his disappearance, or he'll be in deep trouble! Oh well, they probably won't even notice anything, since they never took a chance to even prompt a conversation spontaneously when he was at the lounge. He even wonders if they actually notices his presence. He sighs, and continues.
He brushes the cobwebs whenever they get entangle on his shirt. The torchlight seems pretty helpless, shining onto a tiny specific spot each time, hardly sufficient to penetrate a quarter the darkness. Finally, after much hassle, he reaches to the place where Dakara was suppose to meet him. But she was no where in sight. Perhaps she isn't here yet. After all, I am albeit early. I'll just have to wait a moment.
He gaze into the sky, as black as, well, night. Surely, you can't possibly describe degree of the night's darkness. Only a few stars adorn the night sky, the clouds are not in sight. He settles on the soft grass, although having a slight moisture because of the evening drizzle. What a beautiful view, if he could just forget his dilemmas, life tonight will be perfect.
"So, you have come after all, huh?" Dakara's voice penetrate through the darkest corner of the forest, so dark her shadow barely visible.
"Dakara? Is it you?"
Dakara emerged slowly from the darkness. Leon noticed her change instantly. Although she retain her usual features, the changes are evident. She wasn't the blonde he used to know, she turn into a brunette, with flowing brownish hair. But more importantly, her emerald eyes, they also turned into brownish ones, with a slight hint of red, like tiny burning flames dancing. She look completely different! Yet, the aura she always had, was there. Nevertheless, Leon caught a new aura in her which he didn't knew she'd possess. He felt a surge of darkness, in her. He is nearly sure that the person in front of him is Dakara, but is that possible? The change was so outrageous, he almost felt as if he had a huge concussion on his head, resulting a mind disruption after the "freak accident"!
"Who are you?" stunned by her presence. "What do you want from me?"
Dakara approach slowly towards him. Her hand clutching on to a similar book his father gave him. Except, the book had a different version of weird inscriptions or symbols on it. Leon could not quite read them.
"Is that the Book of Darkness?" he questioned. "But how?"
" You know who am I." She answered. "I've been waiting for this moment. Now that I am convinced that you are the one, when I managed to sense the presence of another book just now."
"You mean you were hunting me all this while?" Leon asked, his head, full of questions.
"Yes, since the first time I notice that amulet of yours. It looks rather familiar, like the one my grandma used to own, and the one my parents were murdered for." she said, as she hold back her tears. "I swore to take revenge on my parent's murderer."
"You don't understand, this is the last present I received from my my mother. What does your parents have to do with my amulet?" He asks, looking more puzzled then ever.
"Your dad! He...he... killed my..MY PARENTS!" Instantly, her face, full of fury. Her eyes reflecting her emotions instantly, flamed even brighter. She turn her back towards Leon. "I was left all alone, along with my grandma, because you, and YOUR parents existed!"
"You liar! My dad will not kill anybody! He would not!" Leon insists.
"Your dad did, he killed my parents because he wanted my mother to shut up. He did not want anybody to get a grip on that precious amulet!"
"Amulet? Me?" He paused, trying to relate every incident in his life. Migraines work their way through his brains, the agony, and the torment. He cries out loud in a gruesome manner. Flashbacks starts itself without him noticing...
